Dawn's Vision
Prioritize student learning by ensuring maximum funding goes directly to classroom activities and resources, rather than administrative expenses.
Foster environments dedicated to education, learning, and growth, free from social experiments.
Transparency in our processes is paramount as we strengthen trust with parents and the community.
Ensure a distraction-free learning environment, that will enable students and teachers to thrive, focusing on reading, writing, arithmetic, and critical thinking.
Together, we will build a future where every child has the opportunity to excel and every teacher has the support to inspire.
Restore Academic Success
Redirect maximum funding into the classrooms for reading, writing, arithmetic and critical thinking - not what to think
Keep Schools Safe and Open
The research is clear... kids suffer academically when they miss in-person instruction. We must keep our public schools open, safe, and free of distractions.
Ensure Parents Have a Voice
We need, and I want, parents to partner with schools and the Board of Education to ensure success.
Keep Boys OUT of Girl's Locker Room & Sports
We must keep politics out of the classroom.

About Dawn
Dawn was born and raised in the great state of Maryland. During her school years, she actively participated in community and sports activities, serving as a patrol and playing on the swim and volleyball teams. She is grateful to have received her entire education from the Maryland Public School System, including her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Maryland. GO TERPS!!
Over the past 20 years, Dawn’s cousins, nephews, and nieces have all successfully completed their K-12 education in the Anne Arundel County Public School System.
Dawn has devoted her entire career to education, working in academia, industry, and government. She spent 23 years at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy, followed by 4 years in private industry at Lockheed Martin. Currently, she is supporting the Department of Defense on a new pilot program that aims to create a talent pipeline for civilians. In each role, Dawn has successfully developed and delivered programs focused on providing the tools and key skills needed for lifelong success.
Dawn has extensive experience in creating and leading programs aimed at preparing both STEM and non-STEM students for higher education, as well as helping college students prepare for the workforce. She has designed hands-on learning experiences for students that tackle real-world problems, some of which require security clearance. In addition, Dawn has developed courses that introduce and strengthen critical skills essential for success in the 21st-century workforce. She has also collaborated with industry and government partners to create internship opportunities for students.
In the community, Dawn works with parents to help them prepare their children for college by identifying scholarships, assisting with application preparation, finding internships, and more. She has also been actively serving on the Southern High School ICST Board for AACPS.
Dawn looks forward to meeting parents, community members, and teachers to learn more about their experiences and concerns with the education system.
